Hosted by the Riverside Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, this free community event series invites residents to gather outdoors on Friday nights for unforgettable evenings filled with movies, laughter, and family fun under the stars.
Running throughout June, July, and early August, Movies in the Park transforms neighborhood parks across the city into open-air theaters where families, friends, and neighbors can relax together and enjoy blockbuster favorites in a welcoming community atmosphere. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and snacks while enjoying Riverside’s beautiful summer evenings. Movies begin at dusk, approximately between 7:30 and 8 p.m., but attendees are encouraged to arrive early to grab the best viewing spots and enjoy the parks.
The 2026 lineup offers something for everyone, featuring animated adventures, family comedies, and exciting live-action favorites. The season kicks off June 5 with Disney and Pixar’s “Luca” at Lincoln Park, located at 4261 Park Ave. On June 12, audiences can experience the live-action adaptation of “How to Train Your Dragon” at Nichols Park, 5505 Dewey Ave.
After a short break, the fun continues June 26 with “Hotel Transylvania 3” at Villegas Park, 3091 Esperanza St. July’s schedule begins July 10 with the action-packed family favorite “G-Force” at Reid Park, located at 701 N. Orange St. On July 17, audiences can sing along with Disney’s beloved hit “Encanto” at Bryant Park, 7950 Philbin Ave.
The excitement continues July 24 with “Bad Guys 2” at Hunter Hobby Park, 1401 Iowa Ave., followed by “Incredibles 2” on July 31 at La Sierra Park, 5215 La Sierra Ave. The summer series concludes August 7 with the live-action version of “Lilo & Stitch” at Orange Terrace Park, located at 20010 Orange Terrace Parkway.
